Prince Nuada Process Drwg (2017)

Description

Figured I'd pop this on here to show everyone how I painted Prince Nuada. Some people were curious ;P

To start, I drew a quick sketch of him.
Then, I duplicated the sketch layer and hid the first layer while I blended the second duplicate layer.
I unhid the original sketch layer after that to get the third pic in the row up there to give me a base to paint under.
I added a new layer under the base sketch layers and moved it in between the two sketch layers so I could still see the original sketch.
Then, I painted the flats on the layer underneath the final sketch layer-- you can see the flats in the fourth pic up there.
Then, I moved the blended sketch layer back over the flats and combined the three layers before doing anything else--- Doing that allowed me to have some light shading to use to blend colors with after the flats were combined with it.
The fifth pic shows me having begun the shading and you can see my color swatches up there with it. I used a LOT of color blending for this pic.
The sixth pic shows where I started really putting in lights and fixing values.
And the final pic shows the completed drawing with all of it's highlights, the final touches I added, the color swatches removed, and my watermarks added.

It took me 10 to 12 hours to paint it. (I finished the whole thing starting in the afternoon and working through until around midnight.)

Here's the final pic:

Prince Nuada belongs to the Hellboy movie franchise.
I do not own Hellboy or Prince Nuada.

Please note that I didn't just outright copy the reference material completely. I only used it as a "reference". Here is the main reference I used -->> images-na.ssl-images-amazon.co…
I used a few other shots of him to see what his forehead basically looked like, but I didn't copy it completely perfectly-- that's what being artistic and creative is about-- Not being a xerox machine!!
